    What is the difference between the cradle and a baby hammock?

    Both hang from a spring and move in the same gentle up-and-down rhythm. The difference is the sleeping surface.

    A baby hammock curves around the body, which many newborns find comforting because it resembles the closeness of the womb. The cradle has a flat, firm surface held by a metal frame, with more room to stretch out and move.

    Many families use both: the hammock for short naps in the early weeks, the cradle as your baby grows and needs more space. If you are choosing one, the cradle suits parents who want a flat surface from the start.

    How long can my baby use the cradle?

    From birth and up to 15 kg in total, counting both the cradle and your baby.

    In practice, development usually decides before weight does. Stop using the cradle once your child starts to roll over, sit up unaided or pull themselves up on hands or knees. For most babies that happens well before 15 kg.

    How do I hang up the cradle?

    The cradle can be hung from a cradle stand, a door clamp or a ceiling mount. A spring and a carabiner are included, so you only need the suspension itself. See the product page for which suspension fits your setup.

    The straps have three length settings — 89, 106 and 116 cm — which lets you adjust the hanging height to the room. Whichever option you choose, check that the fixing point is secure before placing your baby in the cradle.

    Can I use a cradle bouncer with it?

    Yes. The cradle is compatible with the LeeLo cradle bouncer, which keeps the rocking going on its own so you do not have to stand beside it.

    Without a bouncer the cradle still bounces gently — from your own hand, or from your baby’s own movements. The spring is included either way.

    Does the baby carrycot fit inside the cradle?

    Yes. The Membantu baby carrycot is made to fit inside the cradle.

    That is useful if you already use the carrycot in the pram: your baby can be moved from the pram into the cradle while staying in the same familiar bed, instead of being lifted out of one and into another.

    Is the cradle safe?

    The cradle is tested and approved to EN 1130:2019 + AC:2020, the European safety standard for cribs and cradles. The mattress is tested to BS7177 and REACH.

    The spring is a wear part and should be replaced between each child for safety reasons. Check the spring and the straps regularly for signs of wear.

    Please note: Read the manual carefully before first use, and keep your baby supervised while the cradle is in use. The cradle is only suitable for babies who cannot yet sit up, roll over or pull themselves up on hands or knees.

    The fabric is GOTS-certified organic cotton. The mattress has a breathable foam core that balances softness against support, with a removable organic cotton cover — which matters the first time something goes wrong at three in the morning.

    The cradle measures 85 × 40 × 32.5 cm and weighs 2.9 kg.

    Hanging it up
