After giving birth and landing in your postpartum body, pleasure and sensuality might be the last thing on your mind! However, getting out of your head and into your sensual body is one of the main things that can actually create more joy and energy for yourself, your relationship and your new life with your baby.
Something beautiful that happens when you create the intention for yourself to reconnect with your body and your pleasure is that you begin to notice what your needs and desires are. It's so important for you as a mom to pause and feel into how you can best care for yourself and ask for what you need to recharge your batteries. Connecting with your pleasure is one of the best and most effective tools to boost those feel-good hormones in your body that support your thriving. When you are thriving, your baby and your relationship are much more likely to thrive as well!
Here are three great pleasure practices that are easy to create space for in your everyday life:
1) Sensual dancing
This is the easiest and most effective practice to get you out of your head and into your sensual body; put some juicy music on (headphones if baby is sleeping), start moving your hips and gently stroke and caress your body. Follow what feels good to you and intuitively move your body, hips and hands.
2) Pockets of pleasure
Create small moments in your day where you prioritize your pleasure. Sensually massage your body when you apply body lotion, pause and appreciate the warm sun on your face or hold and stroke your body in the hot shower. It doesn't have to take long for you to allow more pleasure into your life.
3) Connecting kisses
This practice seems small but it has the potential to create so much connection and pleasure between you and your partner through boosting your in-love hormones; create the intention together to touch tongues every day. Take the very little extra time to give each other a long kiss when you say goodbye or goodnight or really whenever.
If you feel drawn to trying these out, give it a week of setting aside a couple of minutes each day for each of these practices and notice the difference! Valentines is here and what better time is there to commit to yourself and your partner to create more space for pleasure and connection? Happy pleasure practice and happy Valentines!
