10 things to pack for baby on holiday

Summer is just around the corner

Ahh, it's summer and the summer holidays are just around the corner. You can almost feel that the holiday you've been waiting for is nearly here. This holiday is different though, because not only do you have to pack your own suitcase, this time you also have an extra piece of luggage, as you'll be taking your little baby on holiday with you. While travelling with a baby can be quite a big deal and maybe even overwhelming for some, I would say that it can also be absolutely amazing!

Be patient and enjoy having all the quality time in the world with your little family, where no cleaning, laundry or tidying up is part of your holiday. It's a holiday for mums on maternity leave.

But what do you actually do when you're on holiday with a baby? Where does the baby sleep? And how much freedom will you have on your holiday? And what should you pack? I'll help you with that in this blog post.

My essential tips

Heat can be difficult for some babies to thrive in. I would definitely recommend making a small pool with a little water in it, in the shade and get cooled down. That way, both you and your baby can be present in a pool area.

For when your baby is napping, I'd recommend packing a baby hammock with a door clamp from Membantu (it takes up very little space in a suitcase and will be your best friend on holiday). Then you can pop up to the hotel room and your baby can be nursed and put down for a nap in the baby hammock. All while you have your hands free to apply sun cream at your leisure. Maybe even get something to eat. And then you can stroll out onto the terrace with a baby monitor and rest in the warmth of the sun.

From experience, I would recommend packing nappies from home. It's never fun having to hunt through supermarkets new places or abroad looking for nappies. Or stressing out that you're suddenly out of nappies. And hey, you'll have extra space in your suitcase on the way home to buy toys or souvenirs!

Depending on how big your baby is, I would recommend packing your best sling or baby carrier. And preferably a stroller or pushchair. This makes it easier for you when you're travelling and ensures that you create a sense of security for your baby in new surroundings and, of course, that you have your arms free.

Make sure your baby has some of their favourite toys with them, and preferably something new and exciting. And change the toys along the way to keep your baby curious about the toys and entertained on holiday.

Last but not least. Enjoy it and be in the moment. There's nothing better than a relaxed mum on holiday with her baby. After your holiday, you'll look back and actually be able to say "that was a great holiday".
